First Cubs game - May 28, 1977. I saw both Reuschel brothers pitch!
First Bears game - sometime in 1977 or 1978. I must have seen Walter Payton play but I also must have seen Bob Avellini play.
First Illini football game - Sept. 3, 1988. Washington State beat the Illini 44-7 (but the Illini rallied later in the year to reach the All-American Bowl - the first of 6 bowl games in 7 years).
First Illini basketball game - March 12, 1988, at Welsh-Ryan Arena, the game which ended with Kenny Battle's jaw-dropping 360 dunk.
